At the top, the original, first order Fresnel lens still serves the beacon, but today is lit by a 1000 watt bulb. The lens consists of 370 hand-cut glass prisms arranged in a beehive shape towering 12 feet tall and 6 feet in diameter.

I'm constantly amazed by the intricacies in the small things all around us... the tiny veins in a flower petal, the metallic blue luster of a dragonfly's wing, the downy feathers on a baby bird... the beauty is everywhere. I love the challenge of trying to capture these fine details in my photographs.
