The St. Augustine Lighthouse in St. Augustine, Florida, USA rises 165 feet above sea level and contains 219 steps. At the top, the original, first order Fresnel lens still serves the beacon, but today is lit by a 1000 watt bulb. The lens consists of 370 hand-cut glass prisms arranged in a beehive shape towering 12 feet tall and 6 feet in diameter.

I'm constantly amazed by the intricacies in the small things all around us... the tiny veins in a flower petal, the metallic blue luster of a dragonfly's wing, the downy feathers on a baby bird... the beauty is everywhere. I love the challenge of trying to capture these fine details in my photographs.
